Gillian Anderson to star in project airing on PBS in April

PBS' "Masterpiece" will air a revival of "Great Expectations" starring Gillian Anderson, David Suchet and Ray Winstone next year.

Anderson will play Miss Havisham in "Expectations," slated as a three-episode miniseries, co-produced by BBC Drama Production.

"Expectations" is scheduled to air in April, two months after the 200th anniversary of author Charles Dickens' birth. (BBC1 is scheduled to premiere "Expectations" in the U.K. this year at Christmastime.)

"Masterpiece" exec producer Rebecca Eaton said she is eager to see Anderson in the role of "the beautiful, mysterious and manipulative Miss Havisham," adding that the thesp's "hypnotic portrayal of Lady Dedlock in 'Bleak House' showed that she and Dickens are a perfect match."
