"I think there is definitely a desire for an actor to show that there are other parts of themselves."

"Somebody who has been doing television for so long, one wants to, you know -- if that is thin and light, then to add something thick and heavy to balance it out."

"One's hope is that everybody goes 'oh my god, a REAL actor.'"

"There are two places, aren't there? There's Broadway and there's the West End."

"They all come on one bloody night and that is the night you get reviewed. It's like facing... it's like the inhale of Darth Vader surrounding you on the stage. It's like (makes a sucking sound) a mixture of contempt mixed with this struggling spirit of goodwill from your friends in the audience. It just doesn't compare to the weight of this other force. And you can get just completely sucked into it."

"Words are so potent and it's like arrows on burnt flesh. Because ultimately, the goal of everybody is to encourage people to go to the theatre. If, you know, a good percentage of people perhaps will not go because of the reviews, then the reviews are not participating in the attempt to keep theatre alive in the city!"

*Playbill reports that there will be a U.S. Broadcast of this documentary:

"Theatrebiz plays on digital channel BBC4 on Sunday nights at 9 PM and again at 11:50 PM, Thursdays at 7 PM, Fridays at 1:55 AM, Saturdays at 11:55 PM and Sundays at 2:45 AM (episodes two and three will be first screened on Sept. 19 and 26). A U.S. run on the Trio channel will follow at the end of 2004, and a British terrestrial showing on BBC2 is thought likely by series co-producer Gina Newson.
