Anderson 'fascinated' to meet Queen
By pa.press.net
February 14, 2012

Actress Gillian Anderson said she was "fascinated" to meet the Queen and Duke Of Edinburgh tonight at an event at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the life of Charles Dickens.

The former X-Files star was joined by a host of other faces from TV and film at the reception, which was also attended by members of Dickens's family.

Anderson, who recently brought the character of jilted bride Miss Havisham to life in a BBC adaptation of Great Expectations, said: "I would love to be able to walk around and have a conversation with everybody here. I am absolutely fascinated to be here and to meet the Queen."

The actress, who also played Lady Dedlock in the 2005 BBC production of Bleak House, said she was unsure which Dickens character she would play next.

Berlinale Dispatch: The Return of Gillian Anderson — Hooray!
By Stephanie Zacharek, Movieline
February 14, 2012

No one, as far as I know, has come to the Berlinale in search of Gillian Anderson, the strawberry-blonde vixen who set millions of hearts aflutter -- and not just male ones -- with her role in the supernaturally beloved ’90s show The X-Files. But Anderson has surprised those of us who love her by showing up -- in small roles, but still -- in two films here, James Marsh’s Shadow Dancer and Ursula Meier’s Sister. In Shadow Dancer, a thriller set in early-‘90s Belfast, she’s a British secret-service officer who squares off against a colleague (played by Clive Owen). In Sister, she’s the well-heeled patron of a tony Swiss ski resort -- and a mom -- who befriends a young thief and rapscallion who barely knows what it means to be a child.

The Prince of Wales seeks Gillian Anderson's advice on public speaking (Telegraph, UK - Feb. 12, 2012)

The Prince of Wales has been giving speeches for 40 years, but he is not too proud to ask for assistance in improving his technique.

Prince Charles met Gillian Anderson, the star of The X-Files, at a service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey to mark the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’s birth.

“His Royal Highness was saying how he was actually interested in reading and practising reading himself – reading out loud from Dickens and other literature that is,” says the actress. “So he was thinking about working with somebody to improve and be more confident with his public speaking with regards to literature.”

Speaking at the WilliamVintage pre-Baftas dinner at the St Pancras Renaissance hotel, Anderson insists that the “somebody” will not be her. “I don’t think he was asking me,” she says modestly.

Gillian's new BBC drama series: "The Fall"
Posted at 10:07 AM (PST) on Friday, February 3, 2012

BBC Media Centre:

"The Fall" is a gripping psychological thriller that forensically examines the lives of two hunters. One is a serial killer who stalks his victims at random in and around Belfast and the other is a talented female Detective Superintendent on secondment from the MET who is brought in to catch him.

Produced by Artists Studio and written by Allan Cubitt (The Runaway, Murphy’s Law, Prime Suspect), the five episodes will follow the police investigation uncovering the intricate story of the lives entangled by a series of murders – both the killer's and the victims’ families.

Gillian Anderson stars as DSI Gibson, who arrives to conduct a 28 day review at a Belfast station where the police are getting nowhere on a high profile murder case.

Ben Stephenson, Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning, says: “The Fall is a unique, forensic and characterful take on a classic genre that continues BBC Two’s commitment to original British drama in 2012. Cubitt’s rich and complex psychological thriller combined with another compelling performance from Gillian Anderson will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.”
